Tate-Evans Park provides a walking trail, two playground areas – one area for smaller children and Fort VonCanon for more active children. There are wading pools, a volleyball court, picnic tables, and a covered picnic shelter. Restroom facilities are available from April though September. The amphitheatre holds the Summer Concert Series each Thursday night beginning in June.

The Beech Mountain Bark Park is a fenced in, off-leash dog park where dogs can exercise in a clean, safe environment. This park is a beautiful, well-maintained space open to all dog lovers and friends who are willing to uphold the park’s rules and restrictions. The park was built and is maintained as a community project, designed to satisfy the needs of dog-owners and non-dog owners alike.

Watauga Humane Society Dog Park

Open every day from 6 a.m. to sundown. The Dog Park is located along Don Hayes Road, between Rutherwood Baptist Church and the Boone Stockyard, about four miles from Boone off Old Highway 421 South. The dog park consists of approximately 3.5 acres of fenced land for dogs to romp and play. There is a smaller section, about 1/2 acre, for smaller dogs.

Annual Pooch Passes are valid for one year from the date of purchase. Passes can be purchased from the Adoption Center during regular open hours.

Revenue generated from pass fees are used in part for maintenance costs associated with the dog park and for special improvement projects as funds allow.
